United Methodist Women (UMW) is a national organization of 800,000 members whose mission is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders, and be advocates for social justice. Members raise $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children, and youth in the U.S. and in numerous countries around the world.

UMW Purpose Statement
UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

How can I get involved with UMW?
We have two social action groups:

Teddy Bear Ministry
This group meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm in the Adult Meeting Room to make bears to comfort young patients in the Pediatric Unit at Northwest Community Hospital. As of April 2013, over 12,000 bears have been delivered. Sewing skills are welcome but not required. Contact Jo Ann Jacobs more information.

Have a Heart Pillow Ministry
This group meets the 1st Thursday of the month at 9:00 am in the Adult Meeting Room to make heart-shaped fleece pillows for breast cancer patients at Alexian Brothers and Lutheran General Hospitals. No sewing skills are required. Contact Nancy Cairns with any questions.

How do I join UMW?
